Frequently asked questions.

Photo Session FAQ

Q: What should we wear to our session?

A: The number one question, and it’s a great one! My biggest piece of advice is to coordinate, not match. Instead of everyone wearing the same white shirt and jeans, pick a color palette and build your outfits around that. Layers and textures are also your best friend! A cozy sweater, a denim jacket, or a flowy dress can add so much visual interest. Above all, choose outfits that you feel comfortable and confident in.

Q: We’re not models. Will we look awkward in the photos?

A: Not on my watch! My goal is to capture genuine connection and real moments, not stiff, awkward poses. During your session, I'll give you fun prompts and games to get you laughing and interacting naturally. For couples, it might be a silly question like, "Whisper your favorite ice cream flavor into her ear." For families, we might have a tickle fight or play a game of tag. My job is to guide you, and your only job is to have fun.

Q: What if our kids don't cooperate?

A: Welcome to the club! Trust me, I've seen it all. A photo session with kids is often a beautiful, joyful, and slightly chaotic adventure. I always build in plenty of time for breaks, snacks, and cuddles. Don't worry about forcing a perfect smile; some of the best photos come from those unscripted, candid moments of pure joy (and sometimes a little bit of beautiful chaos!).

Q: Do you offer copyright, a print release, or RAW files?

A: This is a great question! When you receive your photos, you'll get a print release, which gives you permission to print your photos at any lab you choose. The copyright remains with me as the artist, and this is standard practice in the photography industry. This ensures the integrity of my work. I do not provide unedited (RAW) files because they are an unfinished product. The editing process is a huge part of my artistic style and what makes your final images so beautiful.

Q: What does "X downloadable images" mean, and what can I do with them?

A: Think of "downloadable images" as the digital version of your photos—like the digital files you have on your phone, but much higher quality! When your gallery is ready, you'll be able to download a specific number of your favorite images (as determined by your package).

What can you do with them? A whole lot of things! You can:

  • Share them on social media with family and friends.

  • Email them to loved ones.

  • Use them as your phone or computer wallpaper.

  • Most importantly, you can use them to create beautiful prints and photo albums!

How are they different from prints? Downloadable images are the digital files themselves, while prints are the physical, tangible product you can hold in your hands. My digital files are carefully edited and formatted for professional printing. While you have the freedom to print them at any lab you choose, I highly recommend ordering prints directly from your gallery. This ensures the best quality and color accuracy, as my professional labs are calibrated to match the files I deliver.

What size can I print up to with these images? The high-resolution files you receive are perfect for printing. You can comfortably print up to an 8x12 inch size. For larger prints or custom wall art, I'd be happy to help you with a custom order to ensure the best possible result!

Q: Why do I have to sign a contract?

A: A contract is a way for me to protect myself as a business owner and for you to know exactly what to expect! It’s all about setting clear expectations and making sure we're on the same page. The contract outlines all the important details like the date, time, location, payment, and what you’ll receive. It's simply a way to ensure a smooth, stress-free experience for everyone.

Q: Do you travel?

A: Absolutely! I love a good adventure. While I'm based in the Kingsport, Tennessee area, I'm more than happy to travel to you. Sessions outside of my local area will include a travel fee to cover things like gas, mileage, and accommodations if necessary. Just let me know where you're dreaming of having your session, and we can work out the details!

Q: What if we print our photos at a different lab?

A: The images you receive are professionally edited and calibrated for professional print labs, and I can't guarantee the quality of prints from consumer labs (like those at drugstores or big-box stores). The colors and quality may vary significantly. For the best possible results, I always recommend ordering prints directly from your online gallery.

Q: Do you offer payment plans?

A: Yes, we do! I want to make sure you get the photos you love. A down payment is required to book your session. Your full gallery will be made available once the final payment is received. I'm always happy to work with you to create a payment plan that fits your needs, especially for larger packages like weddings. Just ask, and we can work something out together!

Q: What can we expect during our session?

A: You can expect to have a great time! Our session will be laid-back and fun, focusing on you and your loved ones. We'll start with a few easy warm-up prompts to get everyone comfortable. From there, I'll provide you with simple actions and prompts to help you interact naturally with each other. We'll be walking, talking, laughing, and playing. My goal is to capture your unique story in a way that feels authentic to you.

Q: How will we get our photos after the session?

A: A few weeks after your session, you'll receive a link to a beautiful online gallery filled with your high-resolution images. From there, you can download your favorites, share them with family and friends, and even order professional prints directly from the gallery.

Q: We're ready to book! What's next?

A: Awesome! I can't wait to work with you. Head over to my contact page or click the "Book Now" button to get started. We'll chat about your vision and choose a date and location that's perfect for you.
