What to Wear for Your Senior Session

Your outfit choices can make or break your photos! Here are our top tips for looking your absolute best.

General Guidelines

Bring Multiple Outfits Even if you have the Bronze package (one outfit change), bring 2-3 options so we can choose what looks best on location. Silver and Gold packages allow for multiple outfit changes, so bring plenty of variety!

Fit is Everything Wear clothes that fit well and make you feel confident. Avoid anything too baggy or too tight. When you feel good, it shows in your photos!

Think Timeless While trendy pieces are fine for some shots, include at least one classic, timeless outfit that will look just as good in 20 years. Think quality over quantity.

Colors & Patterns

✓ BEST COLOR CHOICES:

  • Solid jewel tones (emerald, sapphire, burgundy, navy)

  • Earth tones (rust, olive, tan, cream)

  • Classic black, white, or gray

  • Pastels for a softer, romantic look

✗ AVOID:

  • Neon colors or overly bright shades

  • Large, busy patterns (small patterns are okay)

  • Clothing with large logos or text

  • All white or all black outfits (mix textures instead)

  • Clothing that matches the background exactly

PRO TIP: Bring solid colors that complement your eye color!

  • Wear comfortable shoes you can walk in

DON'T:

  • Over-accessorize (keep it simple)

  • Get a drastic haircut the day before your session

  • Wear heavy, dramatic makeup

  • Wear squeaky new shoes (break them in first!)

  • Forget to bring your cap and gown!

Special Considerations

For Guys:

  • Dark jeans or khakis work great with almost any top

  • Bring a tie or bowtie for formal shots

  • V-neck or crew neck shirts layer well under jackets

  • Make sure your belt matches your shoes

  • Get a haircut 1-2 weeks before (not the day of!)

For Girls:

  • Bring several shoe options (flats, heels, boots)

  • Consider layering (cardigan over a dress, jacket over a blouse)

  • Avoid spaghetti straps if you're uncomfortable with bare arms

  • Long sleeves photograph beautifully and add sophistication

  • Get hair/nails done the day of or day before for freshness

The Day Before & Day Of

24 Hours Before:

  • Drink plenty of water for healthy, glowing skin

  • Get a good night's sleep

  • Avoid salty foods that cause puffiness

  • Lay out all your outfit options

Session Day:

  • Iron or steam all clothing (wrinkles show in photos!)

  • Bring lint roller for any fuzzy clothing

  • Pack everything in a garment bag or hang in your car

  • Wear your first outfit and bring the rest

  • Bring any props or special items
